Today we began the day by practicing our French.  Students took notes and then we looked through a book describing different aspects of the human body.  The notes are below:


Students were assigned chapters 17 and 18 from Touching Spirit Bear for Monday.

Students wanting to participate in a "Secret Santa" activity also drew names.  Students not here can draw names upon their return.

Finally, students worked on their Hominid projects in the afternoon.  Please see the "Hominid" link on the blog for more details regarding this project.  Students are expected to have their "note-making" from an internet source complete by Monday.  The Hominid link has teacher guided sources for their internet notes... in other words, I've previewed the sites and deemed them reliable.  Most students will finish this activity in class today.  Please see below for a title and potential categories:

 Please remember to bring in your reading logs this week!  New ones were handed out today.  Just a reminder that students are expected to read 30 minutes each night in improve their fluency in both reading and writing.  Plus, it is just a good workout for the mind. Please remember that your Ancient Civilization projects are due this Wednesday.  You will have time on Wednesday for finishing touches, but the bulk needs to be complete before Wednesday so you are not left flustered! Good Morning Division 1! Today I will be unavailable to connect with you.  Sadly, I am attending my grandfather’s funeral, who passed away in April.  We had to wait until now to have a small family gathering.  We are relieved to be able to celebrate his life, together in person, even if still physically distanced.  This pandemic has impacted us all, good, bad, and sad.  And, I have a great deal of hope for our future and know that this will pass.  Chin up!  Have a fabulous weekend. Good Morning Division 1! If you are coming to school this next week, please make sure you have pre-arranged your attendance with the office.  Remember to dress for the weather.  We will be spending as much time outside as possible.  Bring snacks and a lunch that is "picnic style".  You will pack out what you pack in.  In other words, you will take your garbage/recycling home with you and will need your own utensils if necessary.  Bring a water bottle, full.   Please make sure you also bring your school supplies back with you.  We will also be doing some writing, math, and crafts.  I look forward to seeing your faces in person!
