Good Morning Division 1!
Feel free to click on the other headings on the top of this page. On the day plan below, I will just give you a quick idea of the day and then you can click on the relevant pages for more information.
Shape of the Day – Welcome Back!
8:30 - 8:50am – Record your sleep patterns.
8:50 – 9:00am – Stretch break. Listen to one or two of your favourite songs and move around.
9:00 – 10:15am – Math. Remember to check the Math Page. I am still looking for some students to join Khan Academy. I have assigned a geometry unit to all students and you will be able to record your progress once you log on and input the class code. Please make sure to check your email (including the junk folder – sometimes mass emails are automatically sent there) for the code and to see whether or not I have sent you a message to let you know I have you on the roster. I am unsure of a couple of your usernames. The first unit is due this Friday, April 24th. If you don’t understand a section after watching the video a couple of times, move onto the next section.
Please remember: In math, you often must force your brain to pay attention. This takes patience and giving YOURSELF compassion. Be kind to yourself! This might be out there for some of you… even tell yourself that you love yourself and that it’s okay not to get something straight away. It doesn’t mean don’t try again, it just means take a break and come back to it.
10:15 – 11:15 – Go Outside. Be active. Be mindful.
11:15 – 12:00 – Science – Check the science page for some refreshers on Science Inquiry procedure, as well as some links to help out with choosing a question. Do some of your own investigation, or (with your parents’ permission) try out an experiment!
12:00 – 1:00 – Lunch Break
1:00 – 2:00 – Language Arts. Remember to check the Language Arts Page. Read and choose an activity in the Language Arts section to respond. This could be answering one of the 6 journal questions, or starting a Novel Study project. Or do some creative writing. The theme this week for Creative Writing is ISOLATION.
2:00 – 2:30 – Create your own day plan for tomorrow. Make sure to include 50 minutes of Math and 50 minutes of Language Arts. Please send me the plan via email. I’m super interested to see your planning strategies!
You really must start to set aside some time each day for your studies – I recommend at least 2.5 hours a day for literacy and numeracy practice. This will keep your mind fresh and is a reasonable expectation for your age level. Remember, it is better to do some each day, instead of bottling it all up and then feeling overwhelmed while trying to complete things all at once. You and your family can decide how and when you do this practice, but I strongly recommend that you do it!
Remember to breathe for three minutes. Focus only on your breathing. If a thought comes into your head, let it be with no judgment, and then go back to your breathing. With each breath in and out, remind yourself that it is good to breathe. When your three minutes are up, enjoy the space you created both in your mind and in your living space.
We got this!
