Good Morning Division 1!
Shape of the Day – Earth Day!!
8:30 - 8:50am – Check in and Sleep Record. You might also wish to prepare for the Zoom meeting today. Here is the prompt I mentioned yesterday:
What focus would you choose for a self-directed passion project? What makes that focus so interesting to you? How might you even start investigating your passion?
8:50 – 9:00am – Stretch break. Listen to one or two of your favourite songs and move around.
9:00 – 10:15am – I’ve updated the Math page. Don’t feel that you must use Khan. It’s one option. I’ve added some other links on the page and am encouraging you to give me feedback. I will only do what I think is best… until I’m told that it isn’t. I want to do both what’s best for your family and what will make you practice your math.
10:15 – 10:55 – Go Outside. Celebrate the Earth. Look around for things you are grateful for that occur naturally.
10:55 – 11:10 – Prepare for the Zoom Call. The invitations were sent out yesterday afternoon.
11:10 – 11:50 – Zoom Call – I will be there to meet and greet you as you enter the call. Have a check in number prepared to share with the class. Today’s call will be similar to last week’s call. We will do a number check in first and then give everyone a chance to answer the prompt I sent out yesterday.
11:50 – 1:00 – Lunch Break
1:00 – 2:00 – Language Arts (use the Language Arts page for extra assistance)
2:00 – 2:30 – Choice – Feel free to check out the science page at this time if you’d like more guidance on completing a science experiment. Or, use this time to consider how you interact with the Earth. Perhaps organize your recycling or take out your compost.
Remember to breathe for three minutes. Focus only on your breathing. If a thought comes into your head, let it be with no judgment, and then go back to your breathing. With each breath in and out, remind yourself that it is good to breathe. When your three minutes are up, enjoy the space you created both in your mind and in your living space.
Remember as well, you are becoming old enough now to monitor your own work as a student. Don’t make your parents police you. Take some initiative and be responsible for your own learning. Also, be helpful to your parents. If doing “school work” is stressing your family out, take a breather and do a chore. You are also old enough now to begin taking responsibility for your actions at home too. I believe in your abilities.
You got this!
