Math Test Tuesday: Practice Questions

 Please remember the following rules for adding and subtracting integers using a number line.

Step 1:

Always position yourself at the spot on the number line that marks the first integer in the equation.

Ex. (-2) - (+3) = 

Place your marker at (-2) on the number line.

Step 2:

If you are adding a positive number: move that many spaces to the right.

If you are adding a negative number: move that many spaces to the left.

If you are subtracting a positive number: move that many spaces to the left.

If you are subtracting a negative number: move that many spaces to the right.

Step 3: 

Mark your answer down.
