Hi Everyone, Hoping to be back tomorrow. Please remember to bring your BAND instruments tomorrow.  Also, remember to bring warm clothes for outside, as we will be participating in the beach clean up in the afternoon.  We will go rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.  You may even wish to bring rubber gloves for picking up debris. Thanks to our students who performed in the music concert today.  You can have a real sense of accomplishment! It is important to make sure you are keeping up to date with your assignments. Homework: Today the integer journals were due. Discussion:  Are social exclusion and relational aggression the same thing?

Today students watched the following documentary on Otzi the Iceman from PBS (Iceman Reborn): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKLygxowqOA We watched to the 15 minute mark.  Below is the activity we began (What? / So What?) We also read Ray Bradbury's "All Summer in a Day" and discussed social exclusion.  Students considered how social exclusion was a theme of the story.  We used our answers to the questions we completed last day to inform our work today.  Below are last days questions: Homework: Math Journal (Adding Integers) due Tuesday, January 22nd.

Homework: There is no homework over the weekend, unless students have not completed their Math Journals.  These are due Tuesday, January 22nd. Discussion questions:  What does it mean to be socially excluded?  When is this necessary?  What impacts can social exclusion have on a person?

Homework: Students were assigned p.63 #5-11.  This was homework if not completed in class. Today the Hominid Project and Character Sketch were both due.  Please make sure these are in tomorrow if you did not hand them in today. We have Aboriginal Education tomorrow.  Please make sure you have outdoor footwear. Today we began a fresh topic in Language Arts.  Students will need to make sure that they have wrapped up all assignments pertaining to Touching Spirit Bear: Story Plot Diagram Chapter Summaries Character Attributes Hot Seat Character Sketch - due tomorrow Students will also need to wrap up their Math Journals if not complete. We have started a new unit for math: Integers Homework for tonight, if not finished in class, is p.62-63 #1-4. Finally, Hominid Projects are due tomorrow. Students had time today to work on completing their hominid projects.  Please see yesterday's post for samples. This week we will work to completion of these assignments so that we can begin some new units next week. Hominid Samples Character Sketch Sample Happy New Year!! Today students reacquainted themselves with some of the assignments that still need to be completed and with some upcoming due dates. Assignments that are now overdue are: Math Journal Character Attributes Outline Chapter Summaries Story Plot Diagrams Students must complete these assignments and have them handed in by the end of this week.  Students have been informed if their work is outstanding. Upcoming assignments that we will be working on in class this week are: Hominid Project Character Sketch Both of these assignments will be due Tuesday, January 16th 2019.
