Homework: Please don't forget to practice your band instruments: Hey Jude La Cucaracha Furioso Hard Rock Blues Banana Boat Song Our concert in Friday, June 7th at 1:30pm. Math check in is due this Monday, June 3rd.  Please see yesterday's post for the questions.  Don't forget that your parents must sign the check-in questions. Next week is the last week of lit circles.  You should be finished at least one book, plus all of the assignments are now due. Please don't forget that Wednesday, June 5th is Beach Day at Roberts Creek Beach and Thursday, June 6th is the Elphinstone Day.  Students will be dismissed from Elphinstone that afternoon. Students will be showing parents a handout with information about the upcoming camping trip.  Please have a read through and send me an email if you are able to volunteer in any capacity.  There will be more information to follow. Homework: Today students were assigned a math check in sheet.  They are asked to complete two questions (one per page).  These will be due on Monday, June 3rd.  If you were away today, you can pick up the sheet tomorrow and either record the question from off the board or from here on the blog. Please remember to bring your band instruments tomorrow.  We only have one week left before the concert.  And, since we will be at beach day next Wednesday, we only have two more rehearsals! Please be finishing up any left over lit circle assignments.  We are heading into term end and report card writing.  It is important to finish up the term on a positive note!  If you are unsure as to whether or not you have outstanding assignments, please check the board in the class, which outlines missing work. Homework: Please remember to practice all of the songs (including La Cucaracha) for the upcoming concert, Friday June 7th at 1:30pm. Hot Seat presentations began today and will continue tomorrow and Friday.  All other Lit Circle assignments are now overdue (except Journal Entry 6). Please review area of a parallelogram: A=b x h I have secured a camping site in Pender Harbour for Tuesday June 18th for one night.  I will provide more details on Friday regarding logistics and a tentative itinerary.  Students and I will begin the planning process tomorrow.

Class Vote: I wish to recap what was decided in class today regarding a camping trip.  The class voted with great vigour to participate in an overnight experience.  From this point, the majority of the students opted for a two day/one night excursion at a location off of the school grounds.  We will likely camp at one of the local lakes here on the Sunshine Coast.  I have begun inquiries. The trip will take place on Tuesday, June 18th - Wednesday June 19th.  The cost should not be more than about $30.00, including food costs (each student will choose a group to work with and will divvy up food stuffs that will sustain them throughout the two day trip).  As we will be counting on parent drivers, transportation costs should be low.  Thus, the costs will be the rental of the campground, lifeguard costs (if we can secure one), and costs for any communal meals we may decide upon. Homework: Tomorrow we will be voting as a class on how we proceed regarding an overnight adventure this coming June 18/19th. There are two possibilities: 1) an overnight at a local lake (Klein/Katherine/Ruby) or 2) an overnight here at the school/catchment area - either at the school or at a residence nearby the school Please discuss these options.  We will first vote on whether students even want an overnight experience.  From their we will vote on the two options as outlined above. Do not forget that Hot Seat presentations begin on Wednesday.  There will be a sign-up sheet for students tomorrow. Please make sure you are up to date with quizzes for math.  With many students away at various activities, it is up to you to check in with me to arrange times to complete missed quizzes or concepts.  I am here in the mornings by 8:00am (often earlier), thus please arrange a time with me to catch up.

Homework: Please make sure that your permission forms are in for our upcoming Vancouver trip Wednesday, June 12th. Please engage in a conversation with your family regarding the potential for an overnight trip this coming June 17, 18, or 19th. A reminder that Hot Seat presentations begin this coming Wednesday May 29th.

Also, wear clothes that you don't mind getting acrylic paint on (it will NOT come out). Character Sketches are also due tomorrow!!

Homework: Please practice your band instruments. Please don't forget your permission forms for the upcoming field trip on June 12th.  These are due in by Monday, May 27th. Lit Circle Character Sketches are due on Friday, May 24th.  Please make sure you are keeping up to date with your reading.

Homework: Please go over the test you completed today with your parents.  If you would like to complete a retest, you will need to do your corrections.  We will do a retest on Thursday at lunch. We will have art tomorrow, so please wear appropriate clothing. Please bring your band instruments tomorrow. Don't forget to keep up with your Lit Circle assignments.  The Character Sketch is due this Friday and your 4th journal entry is due tomorrow.  It is imperative that you are keeping up with your reading.  You have had enough time, both in class and if you have been reading at least 15 minutes per evening.

Homework: Please make sure that you review your math percentages in preparation for the math test on Tuesday. Please practice your band instrument for the upcoming concert on Friday, June 7th at 12:45pm. Please keep up to date with your Lit Circle books by reading every night and competing assignments.  Remember that the fourth journal entry is due this Wednesday and the Character Sketch is due this coming Friday.

Homework: Please don't forget that there is art tomorrow and you will likely want to wear some clothes that you don't mind getting mucky with paper mâché. Please bring your band instruments tomorrow. Please make sure to take home your Pre-Test on percentages and look over this throughout the weekend so that you are ready to write the Test on Tuesday (May 21st). Please keep up to date with your Lit Circle reading.

Homework: There will be a pretest tomorrow on decimals, specifically when working with money and percents (in the form of both sale prices and tax). Please remember to bring your band instruments and your permission forms to school tomorrow for Band Blast.  Please also remember to wear white and black tomorrow morning. Please keep up to date with your lit circle assignments.  We will have a lit circle discussion tomorrow afternoon (after our performance).

We have safely landed in Victoria!!  All is well with lots of smiles! 😁

Tomorrow we head off on the Victoria Trip.  Please make sure that you have packed what you need to be comfortable over the next three days.  We will be doing a great deal of walking.  Proper walking shoes will make all of the difference on this trip. Please also pack a good filling lunch for tomorrow with extra snacks. We will meet down at the Langdale Ferry terminal at 8:10am tomorrow.   Please remember that there is a NO cell phone policy.
