Please remember to read chapters 12 and 13 from Touching Spirit Bear. Ebook: https://mrscrowther7.weebly.com/uploads/6/0/1/2/60126111/touching_spirit_bear_ebook.pdf Tomorrow you will begin working on a Character Sketch for Cole Matthews from the novel.  You will use your character attributes outline to help you with this.  Please make sure this is up to date with information from up to chapter 13. Don't forget that we have auditions for the Winter Play over the next few days.

If you are struggling with Order of Operations in math, please complete the following sheet.  Remember, it is up to you to force your mind to learn this concept.  Use the notes you have taken in class to refresh the process. If you have an outstanding Story Plot Diagram, please make sure that this is complete first thing Tuesday morning when you return to class. Please remember that Monday is a Pro-D day.  You must bring your band instrument to class on Tuesday when you return to school. Grade 7 students, please make sure that you are practicing Welcome Christmas so that we can perform this by December 19th! Have a great weekend!

Students completed their math tests on integers today!  If students would like to do a rewrite, they must complete their corrections and an extra assignment and then we can arrange a time to rewrite. Please remember that tomorrow the story plot diagrams are due.

Please bring your band instruments tomorrow! Please study and prepare for the math test on integers tomorrow.  Use the handout offered on Friday's post for extra practice. Please complete your story plot diagram in time for Wednesday by the end of the day. Please make sure to go over adding and subtracting integers.  If you'd like some extra worksheets, please complete the following sheet.  You can use tiles or number lines to complete the exercise. Remember that on Tuesday you will have a test on adding and subtracting integers.  You also have lots of notes taken in class to help guide you.  Take them home and use them. Story plot diagrams will be due on Tuesday as well.  Students will have more class time on Monday to complete this assignment.

Thanks for bringing your instruments today!!  Don't forget that you are responsible for knowing all notes between bars 5-21 in "Welcome Christmas".  Please check the back of your book pages 46-47 for notes that you are unfamiliar with. Please remember that you are responsible for practicing subtracting integers at home if you are struggling with the concept.  We will have two more days of practice before the test, which I have rescheduled to Tuesday November 19th. Please make sure to check in with students regarding both notices that have gone home: 1) Behaviour expectations on the bus 2) Behaviour expectations in and around the school with regard to our Division 1 students.

Please remember to bring your band instruments tomorrow to school. Please, if you have one, bring an empty jar/yogurt type container tomorrow.  We will use this to hold water while we paint. Please note that we will have a math test on Integers (adding and subtracting) coming up on Monday, November 18th. Plot Line Assignments will also be due this coming Tuesday, November 19th.

Please remember to bring a small mug tomorrow for tea with Mr Guzek.  He will be in first thing tomorrow and you will likely be glad to have a warm cup of tea, made by you! Please make sure that you wear appropriate clothes for being outside.  It rains here.  Likely every day here on out, you are going to need rain resistant clothing. Please remember to practice adding and subtracting integers.  Please see the sheet below for extra practice:

Thanks to the Grade 7 Band and Division 1 for an amazing Remembrance Day Ceremony.  I hope to see you out at the Legion on Monday November 11th! Please remember to bring your band instruments on Tuesday, after the long weekend. Please find a nice small mug over the weekend that you can bring to school on Wednesday, November 13th, as Mr Guzek will be here to help us make our tea!

Please remember to bring your band instruments tomorrow! Please make sure that you are prepared for your math test tomorrow on integers (adding using tiles and number lines). Please see the rubric below so that you can begin your memorization story.  Note that you do NOT need to memorize every single fact that you record and categorize.  Instead, this is meant to be a short story that explains the events that you have decided to learn about.  Make sure you give the who, what, when, where, why/how and make it exciting.  Memorable.  If there is even just one part in the article that resonates with you, choose that one part and master telling it.  It is better to be expressive than long-winded.

Tuesday November 5th 2019

Please remember that you will have a math test on adding integers using tiles and number lines coming up on Thursday, November 7th. Please remember to practice O Canada and Ode to Joy if you are in Grade 7 band. Please remember that you are going to need a poppy for this coming Friday, November 8th and that you need a white top and black bottoms to look professional for our ceremony.  If you do not have a white top or black bottoms, please let me know ASAP as I can help arrange something for you! Students will begin the memorization process of Project Remembrance tomorrow.  Please be sure to check the class created rubric tomorrow to fully understand the expectations.  I will post it on the blog after we've created it tomorrow.

Please remember to bring your band instruments tomorrow! Our upcoming Remembrance Day Ceremony will be this coming Friday, November 8th at 10:45am.  Please make sure that you have a poppy to wear, as Division 1 students will be running the assembly. Please be prepared to wear a white top and black bottoms for the ceremony.  Grade 7 students will all need their instruments for O Canada. If you are playing the Last Post and Rouse, please come in tomorrow morning at 8:00am to rehearse.

Welcome to November!! The kids who attended the Sugar Bowl had beautiful weather, and by all accounts, a great day! We at the school focused on art and math games. Please remember that our Remembrance Day Ceremony will be coming up this Friday, November 8th and Division 1 students will be leading this. Grade 7 students will need to be well rehearsed with Ode to Joy and O Canada by Friday, as our band will play both pieces for the assembly. Glad to hear that everyone was safe last night!!
